Kerry offers coaching and mentoring for organisations wishing to develop leaders in a VUCA environment (Kirk Lawrence (UNC-CHKenan- Flagler School of Business) and Carol Mase). VUCA highlights the Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous world we live in, especially our working world. For an organisation to be successful, its leaders need to be balanced by vision, understanding, clarity and agility to work effectively with their teams.

Does your management team have the five E’s of leadership?

Do the team leaders / managers within your organisation possess the five E’s of Leadership;

1.Enabling – being a problem solver. Can they identify their strengths and work on areas that need development?

2.Executing – the Planners – Can they hold back until they get it right, be controlled and administrative?

3.Energising /Excite – be able to move people forward. Instead of pointing at others and coming up with reasons why goals can not be achieved, leaders look in the mirror and create a culture of it starts with me, what can I do better?

4. Engaging/Express – able to articulate well. The important quality a leader needs is to be self – aware, so they understand their own strengths and limitations. Leaders are not afraid to to ask for help.

5. Envisioning – artistic, imaginative to imagine or expect something is possible or a desirable possibility in the future. A good vision needs to capture people’s imagination.

Coaching and mentoring can assist leaders to grow their communication and collaboration skills, to develop and demonstrate teamwork, to understand one’s own and others’ values and intentions and to gain the ability to stop, look and listen beyond their areas of functional expertise, to make sense of the volatility and to lead with vision and respect.
